Obituary: KATHERINE VAN RIPER-STEWART, 76, of Paterson died Wednesday. She was a member of
First Presbyterian Church of Paterson. Surviving are a son, George Stewart of Paterson; two daughters,
Marion Smith of River Edge and Alive Pasqua of Paterson; a sister, Georgianna Decker of Toms River; four
grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Her lifelong companion, George Van Riper, died in 1974.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Minchin Funeral Home, Paterson, with burial in Fair Lawn Memorial
Cemetery. Visiting is today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Obituary: WILLIAM D. VAN RIPER, 84, of the Green Pond section of Rockaway Township, formerly of
Englewood, died Saturday. Before retiring in 1970, he was medical director for Johnson & Johnson
Worldwide Corp. and had worked for the company for 20 years. He also had a private medical practice in
Princeton, and before that in Englewood and Green Pond, and had been chief of staff at a hospital in Ganado,
Ariz. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He graduated from Colgate University and Temple Medical

Obituary: MICHAEL M. VAN RIPER, 31, of Linwood, formerly of Woodcliff Lake, died Friday. He owned
Jersey Plant & Produce Inc., Vineland. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Johnson Van Riper; two sons, Michael
and Andrew, and a daughter, Kristen Van Riper, all at home; his parents, Peter and Susan Jaten Van Riper of

Lori Van Riper of Woodcliff Lake. Mass will be said Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady Star of the Sea R.C.
Church, Atlantic City, with burial in Union Cemetery, Mays Landing. There will be a memorial service
Saturday at 4 p.m. in St. Paul Episcopal Church, Montvale. Visiting will be Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Obituary: JOHN CORNELIUS VAN RIPER, 96, of Ridgewood died Tuesday. Before retiring in 1966, he
was a mechanical engineer for Wright Aeronautical, Woodbridge. He was a professional mechanical engineer
licensed in New York and New Jersey and associated with area firms.
He was a member of the Holland Society and president of the Main-Exchange Reality Corp. A 1926 graduate
of Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, he received a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
